Artrocker posted a little piece on the band The Angry Years that I found interesting. The band uses a minimalist approach to recording and so the music has a more raw and real feel to it. You can catch imperfections in the song and that's cool. While I would never say that over production is wrong, its nice sometimes to not wonder what part of the song was auto tuned or looped.
