Angus and Julia Stone

First up is a great band from Sydney, Australia. Blending male and female vocals with a fresh lite indie sound. Their new album "Down the Way" might be the best thing I've heard all year. Its rare to have a band that is female fronted (or at least half fronted) that has a unique sound. The album starts with "Hold On" which is a great introduction to the band and also a beautiful way to build up to the album. It starts out light and gradually builds all the way to the climax. It gives us a great idea of what to expect and it doesn't disappoint. The next few tracks continue this nice indie rock/pop build and then you get to the song "Big Jet Plane". Which might be the most "radio friendly" track on the album. Kinda reminds me of early Pete Yorn. The vocals almost sound lazy, but at the same time perfect for this style of music. Almost like a guy is sitting in a lounge singing to a crowd of drunks. The album continues to be amazing and it seems like every time I listen to it I find a new "favorite track". Give it a listen and find out what I mean.
