New Botchamania

Botchamania 150 everyone. If you like a decent laugh here are some wrestlers sucking!

Um... Taylor Swift everyone!!

Here's Taylor Swift doing a cover of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" and I think I like it more than the original. Well as someone once said its almost like polishing a turd. It will never be a good song but people can help it not be so bad. I don't think I've ever seen Taylor Swift move before, so I always just assumed that she was a robot or a Barbie doll. I still think she is, but I think shes controlled by a stick up her ass or something. Anyways no one reads this anyways so here's the video.

Red Letter Media

I'm sure by now that you know how critical I am of entertainment in general. Well one of the things I've always hated was the Prequels to Star Wars. I've hated them but never really knew what I should complain about because there is never enough time to really get the point across to someone. Well the people out at Red Letter Media have done that and doe it so well that no one should ever have to argue the Prequels suck my rod ever again. So how bad as Attack Of the Clones??? Well it was so bad that Red Letter Media made a 59 minute video telling us releases its bad. What about The Phantom Menace? Try 70 minutes. I bring this up for one reason and one reason only. They just teased releasing the next prequel review the other day and now I'm excited! So in honor of the next installment "Emo Anakin Kills Children" I thought I would share with you some of the previous reviews. If you like what you see you can either go to YouTube and visit Redlettermedia on you tube. They also have a great website where the reviews are broken down less. That website is Red Letter Media.

So your aware. There is strong language so if your offended by awesomeness too bad for you.

Animated Short

This is one of the best animated shorts I've ever seen. Its called "Salesmen Pete and The Amazing Stone From Outer Space!"

Salesman Pete from Salesman Pete on Vimeo.

You don't know crap about Phoenix.

The band not the city. I've been reading some comments of blogs and such as of late and people are completely unaware of Phoenix previous work. They've actually released 3 albums in addition to the one that everyone loves right now "Wolfgang Amadeus" . Phoenix first album was released in 2000  but I didn't start listening to them until their second album "Alphabetical" Which to me still to this day is my favorite of their albums. The first album was called "Untitled" and believe it or not shares many of the same sounds from Amadeus. You can tell the band has matured since making this album but the core sound is there.

"Alphabetical" is, in my opinion, the most diverse of all the Phoenix albums. Its also the most poppy of their content. Its a treat from beginning to end with songs that range from full on pop to gospel sounding. It was released in 2004 and you can definitely tell they had those four years to mature their sound. It might be the most dramatic change without changing a bands core sound. Its hard to explain, just listen....

Last but certainly not least is "Its never been like that". By all accounts this should be my favorite of the records because of it leaning more toward rock than the other two albums. Its an amazing album with really catchy songs and a great change again to the music without changing the core sound. Its just not as good as "Alphabetical". It does however have my favorite song that Phoenix does called "Long Distance Call". Honestly if you're thinking of trying Phoenix out I would recommend this album to start with. I think out of all of them Its "Never Been Like That" is the most accessible.

Remember its OK to like bands that get big, but don't be afraid to look to their roots for more content. You might be impressed with what you find!

Decent Song

Heres a song for you by a band called Porcelain Raft..... which is not only a interesting name but funny one as well. The songs called on the "Tip of You Tongue" but I swear it sounds like the guy is saying "TEEP of your tongue". Its pretty mellow track and a bit repetitive but worth a listen.

Horse the Band Live.

Horse the Band recently played a show in Armenia. This is just a small part of that show. This is pretty decent footage. They would be an easy band to screw up the sound on. I really like the two songs they decided to up from the show. While this band isn't for everyone I would at least give the second song a complete listen to. It might surprise you.

This or the Apocalypse

Pretty decent song and a alright video.

100th post

For my 100th post I thought I would be completely boring and just show you the new video by "The National"

woot for 100!

Super Furry Animals

So its been my personal belief since high school that everyone should listen to Super furry Animals. I still remember seemingly driving my girlfriend at the time insane with "Its Not the End of the World". SFA to me is one of the most accessible bands I've ever listened to. They've done pretty much every style of music imaginable. I think they even have rappers in some of the tracks. In no particular order here are some of my favorites.

This is so painfully bad....

I just had to make light of it. Apparently this is Will Smiths 9 year old daughter and she knows how to head bang. She also sounds just like that horrible Rhianna chick who I still laugh at for being beat. Stupid females and thinking they don't deserve a beating, but I digress. This was so bad I just had to post it for you to... well... hate along with me.

The Musical History of....

The "Gorillaz" are the brainchild of Damon Albarn (of Blur Fame) and Jamie Hewlett who created the band in 1998. I remember the first time I heard the band "Gorillaz". I was on the yearly chorus trip and we were in our hotel room in Toronto Canada. On the local cable station there was a channel playing interesting music types and the first video I saw was by this band. That song was called "Clint Eastwood". I was instantly a fan and I made it a personal mission to track down their debut album "Gorillaz".

The Gorillaz consist of 2D on vocals, Noodle on guitar, Russel on drums, and Murdoc on bass. All of which are cartoon incarnations who act as the "real" members of the band. When the Gorillaz real life musician's would play they would play behind a screen while prerecorded material featuring the animated cast would play.

Gorillaz self titled album to this day remains one of my favorite albums. I love the blend of musical styles on the album and its one of the very few instances where I feel that rap works on the album. The Rapping is done by Del The Funkee Homosapien and it really flows well with the sound of the rest of the record. "Del" is represented as the split personality of the drummer of the group Russel and makes several appearance's on the album in songs like "Clint Eastwood" and "Rock the House". This album featured such musical styles as Latin, punk, as well as the rock and hip hop

In 2004 the band released the song "Rock It" on their website exclusively. It came with the announcement of another album that was on the way. From the sound of "Rock It" we knew the new material was going to be good stuff. It was just the core of what Gorillaz were.

"Demon Days" was released in 2005 and it saw a regression in the musical format of its predecessor at least for most of the singles that is. Surprisingly "Demon Days" mainly featured the actual band. The songs that didn't have guest rappers were great. Unfortunately on the tracks  "Dirty Harry" and "Feel Good Inc." there were guest rappers who made the songs sound cheap and forced. Dirty Harry had the potential to be a really great song but because of a horrible rapping part it was ultimately a throw away. Feel Good Inc. was the first single off of "Demon Days" and it too was the victim of crappy rapping but not nearly to the extent of "Harry". The song "Dare" was released as a single and it was the only song that had a featured artist that worked.

Songs on the album that were a success but not singles were "Last Living Souls", "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead", and "Don't Get Lost In Heaven". The song "Fire coming out of the monkey's Head" had spoken word lyrics performed by the late Dennis Hooper. Its one of the truly interesting songs on the album. "Demon Days" wasn't nearly as epic as the self titled album but it was good enough to make me excited for the next release. Little did I know that it would turn my opinion of the Gorillaz on its head.

The Chariot - Long Live Review

I've not always been a fan of The Chariot. When they released their debut "Everything is Fine..." I wasn't very impressed. I'm not sure if I was bitter over lead singer Josh Scogin leaving Norma Jean to form The Chariot or if I just didn't like the style of noise that the band made. So I wasn't really looking forward to the sophomore effort "The Fiancée". It wasn't until "Wars and Rumors of Wars" did I finally get behind The Chariot. Maybe there was enough time since the Norma Jean thing. Regardless, I'm totally on board now. Does "Long Live" continue to show that their sound is improving or does it make me wish he was still with Norma Jean?? Did I say that he was in Norma Jean????!???

"Long Live" is the first album by a noise-core band that I've listened to in years that I liked from first play though. Normally it takes me being in a certain mood or several play through's for me to even get the direction of the album. This one came very easily, which is surprising because this album is brutal. Its not for the faint of heart. It makes me laugh to listen to it because it really defines how my brother described these bands back in their heyday. He actually put on the back of my Ipod that it was my "Dun dun Chee machine", which this album is full of. It never feels like the same song though and thats the most impressive part of "Long Live" by far. Its would have been so easy for them to just repeat the same sounds of the songs, but each song has a distinctive sound. The song "David Da La Hoz" and "The Earth" really stand apart from the rest having some of the most interesting tempo changes music has seen in a while. Whats amazing about this album is how progressive it is without actually sounding that way. Its might be more "progressive" than the bands that share the name of their genre of music. It truly stands out in the shrinking crowd of noise-core bands.

With its fresh sound and brutal nature "Long Live" isn't for every one... it might not be for anyone who actually will take the time to read this. I challenge you though to at least give some of the songs a listen to. "Long Live" gets a 4.5 hearing aids out of 5.

Not really my thing. I dig the music but the vocals are something to be desired. This is for the fans of crappy pop punk bands to have a gate way into good music. Love you pop punk people!!! not really.

Listen to Warpaint "The Fool" entire album

Heres your chance to listen to the new album by Warpaint entitled "The Fool". I would like to know what you think of it.

New Wow Cinematic.

Holy crap on a stick this is an awesome video. Even if you don't care for video games you should give this video a try. The animation is truly amazing.

Best Coast

New video for "Boyfriend"

Awesome mash up.

This is a mash up of the tracks Staying Alive by the Bee Gee's and The Wall by Pink Floyd that is blended very well. Thanks for Jamie for sending it to me.

Question Mark? Episode 2. To say GAY or not to say GAY?

Do you know how I know your gay???

Thats taken from the movie "40 Year Old Virgin", and that scene to me is one of the more funny ones in the movie. Why do I bring this up??? Well recently there was a trailer released for Vince Vaughn's new comedy "The Dilemma". In the trailer (which you can't find anymore due to it being taken off the face of this earth) Vaughn says that the Hybrid cars are "Gay" which is no big deal right??? WRONG. Apparently Anderson (Total Homo) Cooper decided that using the word "Gay" in the trailer is offensive toward his people. He said

I was sitting in a movie theater over the weekend and there was a preview of a movie, and in it, the actor said, 'that's so gay,' and I was shocked that not only that they put it in the movie, but that they put that in the preview, they thought that it was okay to put that in a preview for the movie to get people to go and see it.
I just find those words, those terms, we've got to do something to make those words unacceptable cause those words are hurting kids. Someone else I talked to recently said that the words people use and the things people say about other kids online, it enters into their internal dialogue. And when you're a kid, it can change the way you see yourself and the way you think about yourself, and the worth that you give to yourself. I think we need to really focus on what language we're using and how we're treating these kids.
Vaughn said this in reply to Coopers homoness.
"Let me add my voice of support to the people outraged by the bullying and persecution of people for their differences, whatever those differences may be. Comedy and joking about our differences breaks tension and brings us together. Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does exactly that; it divides us. Most importantly, where does it stop."
The people from GLAAD (who I have about as much repect for as I do PETA) said this about Vaughn's joke.
"Vince is right. Comedy does bring us together, unless one of us is the punchline. Then it pushes us apart."
Do I agree with what Vaughn said? You bet. Am I wrong for thinking that? Nope. Are you wrong for disagreeing?... yup. Am I going to make fun of you for disagreeing? Nope, not worth my time.

Maybe I'm just an insensitive jerk, but when did homosexuality turn into a serious all the time subject?? Oh I know... it was when Ellen pleaded with people to stop picking on gay kids. Because apparently they are killing themselves because they are so depressed about being gay blah blah blah BULLSHIT. First of all, when I was growing up people picked on everyone ALL THE TIME. You think because some kid thinks he likes his/her own sex that that should stop people from picking on them... get real. We live in a hate filled world. Thats is a fact and thats not going to change... ever.

I get that what I'm saying is offensive and you know what??? GOOD! People need to stop pussy footing around and man up. In Regards to the gays that committed suicide, Life is hard man, but its what you make of it. If you choose to end it thats your deal... not mine, not your parents, not the people who made fun of you. Instead of doing the hard thing and living with it they decided not too.Its time for us as a society to quit placing blame on things. That has never worked in the history of our planet. Sure its horrible that these kids felt like they couldn't live with their sexuality but that was their choice.

Lets boil this down to the root of the issue. Is it OK to say that something is "Gay"? Well I guess you will have to decided that on your own. Do you continue to use it in your everyday language or do you use something else like "lame" or "stupid". Personally, I'm gonna say "Gay" and screw anyone who doesn't like it.
