In Honor of my Bro.
I don't think I posted this, even if I did its freakin awesome. I'm dedicating this video to my bro who is helping me with the site. Thanks man. Maybe one day we can make some awesome 80's music and work with a bunch of Hot Lady Cops!! Here's Chromeo's "Hot Mess"
New song and WTF video
First us is the new single from the band Cut Copy. The song is called "Take Me Over" and you can hear it below.
Cut Copy - "Take Me Over" (Radio Edit) Premiere by modularpeople
The second is one of the strangest video's I've seen in a long while. This might offend some, so watch at your own risk. The song is by the band Klaxons and its called "Twin Flames". It features people melting into each other.... yeah I can't really describe it. Just take a look if you dare!!!White Lies - "Bigger Than Us"
I have to admit. I've not really listened to White Lies like I should. I know the lead singer sounds like Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode and thats pretty awesome. The video is interesting to say the least.
Jose Gonzalez - 'Down the line'
Here's a great song for all to enjoy. Nice relaxing song. Definitely going to check out the whole album now.
The Raveonettes - Heart of Stone
Pretty cool song. Weird video. Reminds me a little bit of The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Check it out.
Oceansize - "SuperImposer" Video
I feel like I've heard a band that sounds similar to this band. I can't think of them though and its driving me crazy. Please, someone help me remember. The song its self is pretty good. I hadn't heard of Oceansize until now so I might have to check out some of their other material.
Paul Simon has a new song.
Just in case your in the mood for some Christmas music here is a new song by Paul Simon. I hate when Christmas comes so early, but this song kinda gets me in the mood for eggnog, how about you?
Haste the Day are calling it a day.
Looks like the band Haste the Day have had it. They've posted the following message on their offical site.
This is a very difficult announcement to make, but Haste The Day will be doing its final tour February - March 2011. It has been an incredible 10 years and we want to thank all of our amazing fans who have stuck with us through all of our changes and growth as a band. If it weren't for all of you, this band would have been nothing. There are many reasons why HTD is ending, however we mainly feel as though we have created the best music we can and believe it is now time for us to move on to the next stage of our livesI was a big fan of Haste the Day before their first singer Jimmy Ryan departed in 2005. I've loosely followed the band ever since and they've put out an impressive about of records. Its always nice to know when you've hit your point of no return in a band. I wish the best of luck to these guys on future musical endeavors. If you want to read the full message its located here. In memory I'll post my favorite song from these guy.
After The Burial - In Dreams Review
Sumeriancore is my new favorite genre of metal. What is sumeriancore? Well basically its progressive metal, but the bands that are consider to be sumeriancore are all on Sumerian Records. The style of music basically pits the best parts of breakdown metal with the musicality of progressive music. I don't really love to categorize metal since I feel metal is metal no matter what spin you try to put on it. What does this have to do with After the Burial? Well they are on Sumerian Records.... that's about it. So lets drop the crap and talk about "In Dreams"
One of the things I love about "In Dreams" is how it never lets up. Its a ride from start to finish with barely a breather from the onslaught of metal goodness. After the Burial only uses the progressive styling of their music to accent the core songs rather than to display their talent as musicians. That's something that is definitely starting to die out. I love ten minute songs but sometimes I just want 4 minutes of a metal frenzy! "In Dreams" is chalk full of head banging tunes. At times they even seem to channel metal veterans Meshuggah, in fact the rift in the song "Encased In Ice" could have been from a Meshuggah B-side. The album clocks in at about 35 minutes which I feel is a good pacing for an album of this type.
If you want to get your face rocked look no further than After the Burials newest effort. Check out Sumerian Records other artist if you dig them.
"In Dreams" gets a 4 out of 5

03. Pendulum

Florence and the Machine visit SNL
I'm a fan of Florence and the Machine, so I'm glad they've been given the chance to play on SNL. Its just another example of a good band getting the recognition that they deserve. They are getting so much recognition that I hear that glee will be doing a cover of what I would assume would be the song "Dog Days Are Over". Here are the performances from SNL
"Dog Days Are Over"
"You've Got the Love"
The Gorillaz play some songs stripped down.
Damon Albarn stopped by BBC radio one to do an interview about the new album "Plastic Beach" and to give the listeners a little lounge session of some of the Gorillaz new material as well as a cover of a song by the XX. I've probably linked "On Melancholy hill" about ten times now but damn that song is good.

The Burning post new video
This is the first video for the track "Bait the Hook" I have to say I was surprised. When I first read the description on a site, they described the band as "Power Metal". These guys are clearly not that. I would say they fit nicely in the "new wave of British heavy metal". They remind me of The Haunted or In Flames. Its a pretty decent song. With deathcore taking over the metal scene I'm down with some change. "Hail the Horde" is out now.
I'm so sick of this guy.
Catering to an audience is murder sometimes but someones got to do it. You may or may not recall my review for Age of Adz . I clearly didn't like this guys music and I still don't like that album. Well heres the video for the song he played on Fallon the other night. You might be asking yourself. "Did Brandon Just link to his own website twice?" Yes I did.... yes I did. Heres the vdeo for "TOO MUCH"
Heavy Metal Power House! Deftones "White Pony"
I already know what people are thinking, "Deftone's aren't metal wah wah wah". They most certainly are metal. Deftones have written some of the heaviest songs of my youth. Deftones are metal! We aren't here for a debate though, we are here to talk about one of the greatest heavy albums ever made. Lets dive into "White Pony"
I'm going to admit I didn't really get Deftones when I first heard "Change(In the house of flies)" I was thinking "why is a heavy band doing pussy music??" Man was I ever wrong. "White Pony" is a freakin power house of heavy but its not the heavy that most people think of when talking about music. Heavy isn't always crushing beats and brutal riffs sometimes heavy is the direction of the music. Sometimes its lyrical content. Sometimes its the feeling that the music put inside you. Some of the "slow" songs on "White Pony" are crushing songs. This album solidified the sound that Deftones would use in all of the later efforts by the band. In a land of Nu Metal, Deftones stood out and stood strong and destroyed critics. I think I may have heard "Change" play on 93.5 about a thousand times on the way to school and back. The thing about Deftones is they've only gotten better since this amazing achievement in music. The band has continued to push forward to being literally one of the only legitimate hard rock/heavy metal bands left on the planet. I highly suggest giving "White Pony" a listen if you haven't before.

Jamiroquai - Rock Dust Light Star Review
I've really struggled with this review. I REALLY wanted to like this album and I do like it. Problem is I don't love it. Which is the first time since "Traveling Without Moving" that I haven't instantly loved a Jamiroquai album. There are some great songs on the album don't get me wrong. I guess the album to me just seems very underwhelming. The last LP by Jamiroquai "Dynamite" is epic. Its unrelenting in its sound and it grips your attention while listening to it by constantly adding new elements. So lets talk about the good and the band from the newest outing by Jay Kay.
I want to get this out of the way first. The songs are done flawlessly. The band and Kay's vocals aren't at fault at all. The band is as amazing as ever and Kay sounds like he did years ago when he started. So from a execution stand point there is absolutely nothing wrong with the album. Also I was impressed with the risks that Kay took on the album. He still plays with the funk elements of yore but these songs are much more stripped down than previously. He succeeded in doing that at least. Problem is it doesn't really work. Jamiroquai has always been a larger than life band. I mean they still do discoish music. You can't even try and get away from being larger than life when you emulate a style that was all about being outlandish and loud. So when you pull back it sounds like half the music is present. Thats this albums major flaw. It feels unfinished. Its like if he had added a couple more parts in the music it would have felt like the old days. He wasn't after that sound and hes the lead so I guess thats OK..The major part I have with this album is the song "Hurtin". This song sounds like a B-side from a Lenny Kravitz album. No, thats not a bad thing. The problem is for the first time I felt like Jay Kay didn't sound original. He sounded like he was trying to emulate a popular artists core sound and it really rubbed me the wrong way. On the flip side songs like "lifetime" and "All Good In the Hood" are great songs. Also the song "Two Completely Different Things" could be one of my top songs of the year.
Jamiroquai is one of the greats of the music world. Even though I don't really dig on this album, I know they will make others that I love. I mean even the greats have a bad day right? Also this is a time will tell album I think. I've listened to it probably 5 or 6 times so maybe by the 10th I'll get it.
"Rock Dust Light Star" gets 3.5 Jay Kay Hats out of 5
"Rock Dust Light Star" - 4:39
"White Knuckle Ride" - 3:33
"Smoke And Mirrors" - 4:30

"Blue Skies" - 3:51
"Lifeline" - 4:39
"She's A Fast Persuader" - 5:16
"Two Completely Different Things" - 4:25
"Goodbye To My Dancer" - 4:06

Believe in something!
This video is funny. Its funny because its true. I don't think I've ever gone a day in my entire adult life without hearing someone tell me that I should care about something. Well with all in the shit in the world that sucks what am I supposed to care about? TELL ME DAMN YOU!!! Well luckily for me there is a group of people with a vision. I believe in their vision and I will fight until I die to figure out what I'm going to believe in! Or maybe eat some Jello and say "eff it". Because Jello is good and thinking hurts.
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Heres a new song from the most resent Ryan Adams project. As I'm not a fan of Adams work, I can't really tell you if its good or bad is relation to his previous material. I can say that I enjoyed the song. I hope you as well. If you would like to download the song for FREE follow this link. Its the last link on the page.
Devin Townsend Studio Update
I love Devin. I love his music. I'm super excited about his new album coming sometime next year!! Here is some footage of the guys recording for that new album. Its going to be CRUSHING!!!! "Deconstruction" is the third album in a quintet of albums Townsend is releasing under his Devin Townsend Project moniker. He released the album's "Ki" and "Addicted" this past year and both are amazing. If you look at my earlier post you can find one that follows Townsend's career via music videos. Enjoy.
